It’s a Deal – MOUs promoting trade between Malaysia & Hong Kong signed

The journey to Hong Kong has just begun! An MOU signed with the Malaysian Association of Wellness and Spa (MAWSPA) and The Cosmetics & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong Ltd (CPAHK) happened during Cosmobeauté Asia 2016 on July for the first time!

To assist Malaysian brands to enter the competitive Hong Kong beauty market, an MoU was signed at The Meet & Mingle session during Cosmobeauté Asia 2016 which participated by around 200 audiences including committees from CPAHK all the way from Hong Kong, and professionals from Malaysia spa industry. Meet & Mingle was a successful networking session to gather spa & wellness industry players to network in developing more opportunities in the industry.

The Meet & Mingle session has gathered all members of the spa & wellness industry and hoteliers discussing topics such as how to tackle the issue of spa therapist manpower shortage in the industry. On the other hand, President of MAWSPA, Dr. Baskaran Kosthi shared a few previews about future plans to the members and audience. The president has also announced the latest updates regarding the association’s upcoming activities and plans.

‘The idea of this Meet & Mingle session is to be a bridge, not only with the government and the industry players but also within the industry players we want to network together. Not only fighting between each other but together we find ways to go global. This business is seriously growing at a very fast pace. If we never take this opportunity, somebody else will come and do it.’ said Dr. Baskaran Kosthi, the President of the Malaysian Association of Wellness and Spa (MAWSPA).

With the MOU in effect, MAWSPA, with the CPAHK, will act as a gateway for Malaysian spa products manufacturers to enter the competitive Hong Kong market easier. It is a win-win situation as both Malaysia and Hong Kong spa market can take this opportunity to grow together. Hence, we can expect more opportunities and collaborations between Hong Kong and Malaysia spa industry in the future.
